It appears that Rush Limbaugh has re-upped his radio deal with — get this — a nine figure signing bonus up front. (Yes, nine figures, which means at least $100,000,000.) See here.
This at the same time that the pathetic Air America struggles to hold onto radio stations that pump their signals into the atmosphere using hamsters and wire wheels.
I live and work in Washington, DC and am unaware of where Air America is broadcast here, if at all. It certainly isn’t on any of the major stations (not that I have searched very hard). Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh is on more than 600 stations nationwide.
Isn’t the contrast funny? Rush is paid a tenth-of-a-billion-dollars, just to sign his contract, whereas Air America has to rely on donations from rich liberals just to stay on the air. If only barely.
Ha.
Stand by and wait for the Liberal call to increase the tax on people like Rush Limbaugh to “Pay their fair share” in taxes. But yet you never hear these same people call for an increase on Hollywood and the people out there. Several “Stars” get more then $20 million a movie and ever notice the total take when several movies released on the same weekend? That total easily tops $100,000,000 in just one weekend. Wanna tax something? Tax movie tickets already at $12 bucks a piece and see how far that gets…

Let no cause go unsupported that does not result in additional revenue!

I doubt anyone raises more money for Leukemia and Lymphoma charities.
It is capitalism and a free will of great people that cure horrific diseases and solve our most troubling problems. Indentured souls chained to the socialist contraints of equal achievement will never reach beyond mediocrity.
It’s even worse than you though, Little David. It seems that it’s over $400 million over the life of the contract through 2016.

Of course when the Dems get the [un]Fairness doctrine passed, they will be able to use socialism to stop Rush on the air.
My only complain is that I am not sure how Matt Drudge wrote about this over his man-crush erection… Claiming it is the LARGET briadcast deal… Not true… I hate Stern but the reality is his deal with Sirius was for $500 Million (Plus once he cashed in his SIRI stock last year)
OK, seems Rush is still behind shock jock Howard Stern. If money is the measure of success then Rush has some catching up to do.
I think that it is appropriate that Rush is compared to Howard. One clown is left wing while the other clown is from the right.
Telling, isn’t it, that the left-wing clown basically has a porno show (butt-bongos, women having orgasms, etc.), while the right-wing clown discusses politics and economics.
We know the mentality of the left and the right by the shows they tune in to.
Plus less than 2 Milllion listent to Stern at any one time
Speaking for myself, i intend to go on doing what i have been. Ignoring Rush and listening to Car Talk, the Thomas Jefferson hour, and This American Life (and of course music). Choice is a wonderful thing.

Rush’s clown show is a porno show for right wing extremists. He does nothing to convince the undecided, he only entertains his already convinced audience. His antics to me are just as offensive as Howard Stern and the failed Air America.
