What I’ll Be Doing Tonight
By Chris | Monday, June 2nd, 2008 | Catch-All
Watching Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals on NBC.
Lord Stanley’s Cup and those guys with the white gloves will be in the building tonight as the Detroit Red Wings endeavor to hoist their 11 Championship to the rafters.
If you haven’t yet seen a game in these Finals, I urge you to watch tonigt. Games 3 and 4 were some of the best hockey I’ve seen in years and it is a joy for an old-school hockey fan like me to watch these two classic franchises go toe-to-toe.
One point of personal privilege: If the Wings win tonight, the Conn Smythe award (Playoffs MVP) ought to be in the oversized gloves of Detroit’s phoenix-like goaltender, Chris Osgood. Osgood wasn’t even the starting goaltender when the playoffs started, but he’s been nothing short of spectacular in leading the Wings to the brink of another Championship, a mere ten years after he last did so in 1998.
Good for Ozzy, Good for Detroit and Good for the NHL. GO WINGS!

Damn! Goalie pulled, failure to clear the zone…
3-3 OT
Bingo. But, wow. What great hockey.
Triple OT win and back to the Igloo. Pens show ‘em that Lord Stanley ain’t ready to stay in Detroit just yet. What a game.
Got to hand it to Marc Andre Fleury. That was an incredible performance last night. It could have easily been a 5-2 game.
Great game by Fleury. Can he do that two more times?
