Play PORK INVADERS
By Brian KirwinGeneral Clark’s Short Memory
By Chase
My, how four years can slip by and change one’s perspective on the world and the needed qualifications to be Commander-in-Chief. General Wesley Clark (pictured here with another well-known war hero), every leftist’s favorite military figure, is either a willing dupe of the Obama campaign or he is willfully forgetful of his own grandiose pronouncements. To hear him tell it, the very reasons that John Kerry was qualified to be president are the very same reasons that John McCain is not.

Should the census incense us?
By Brian Kirwin“The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”
Article 1, Section 2 of the US Constitution says government should count us. But the Census Bureau says the census is used “to distribute $300 billion in federal funds” - that part didn’t quite make the Constitution.
So instead of “Are you here?,” they ask Age, Gender, Race, Relationships, Fertility (HUH?), language spoken, how many bedrooms you have, home heating fuel…you get the idea.
These geniuses spent 1.3 billion dollars developing a handheld computer before they realized they couldn’t figure out how to do what UPS has been doing for years (H/T Newt), so now the census will be done on paper by 600,000 temps.
Does anyone else think the census should be counting people, and that’s it?
More on the Heller decision
By DCHThis time from Senator Ken Cuccinelli. The Senator has a great legal mind and is admitted to the Supreme Court bar. He attended the oral arguments in Heller and previously wrote on that experience. Here he takes us on his journey through the entire decision:

Thank God for the militia!
By Brian Kirwin
If the liberals had their way, this might’ve turned out much differently.
An employee of a Virginia Beach pizza restaurant shot and killed a masked robber who had come in the back of the shop to rob it Saturday night, police said. (Virginian-Pilot)
I don’t think the founders were counting on the militia to defend those employees.
Mark Warner is RIGHT!
By J.R. HoeftFor once, former Gov. Mark Warner has a policy I can agree with…I wonder why so few people, especially Democrats, are letting people know about it.
Message to Kaine - Tires are only useful with gas in the tank
By Brian KirwinToday, Governor Tim Kaine launched a huge fanfare as Good Year announced an expansion of its Danville plant, the world’s largest aircraft tire and medium radial truck tire manufacturing plant.
Why, then, has Kaine fought against drilling for our own American resources?
Virginia’s coast was spared today by Governor Tim Kaine (D) who rejected a plan to open up the state’s coast to offshore drilling. (Sierra Club 2006).
Governor, if you’re so proud of those Danville tire jobs, do something to keep them. Join the effort to let us find more oil off our shores!
Republican Party of Virginia 2008 Platform
By Brian KirwinAmid the hoopla of the Virginia Republican Convention, little fanfare was given to the party platform thatwas passed. Unless I’m way off, this was the first state party platform ever for RPV. Included in the ‘08 platform were the 71 planks of Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions. Kudos to Del. Chris Saxman who chaired the committee.
Some of the notable stuff:

The Supreme Court Gets One RIGHT!
By DCHGood news, the Supreme Court has recognized your individual right to possess and use firearms for any lawful purpose under the 2nd Amendment.
Now if only they could understand our 5th Amendment property rights.
Look for more after I read Scalia’s opinion this weekend.
Tax Attorneys You Should Know
By Jane
No, really! This is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, from Minnesota’s 6th congressional district. She has been a federal tax attorney, so she understands very well what high taxes mean to families. Here, she is speaking to the Jennifer Byler Institute on Wednesday as it met in Washington, DC. Unfortunately, her speech was very short as she had to rush to the floor to cast a vote. She was cautiously optimistic about the Fall elections, and believed that many of the races would be surprisingly close.
Here is Congresswoman Bachmann’s website. Good to see she signed on to the no-pork pledge.
Democrats double-tax Hampton Roads
By Brian KirwinSen. John Miller, Sen. Ralph Northam, Sen. Yvonne Miller, Sen. Louise Lucas.
These Democrats think fuel prices are so low that we in Hampton Roads should pay, not one, but TWO tax increases on gas!
SB 6009, which the Senate Democrats happily approved yesterday, raises taxes on gasoline statewide every year for the next six years (and statewide sales tax increase), and on top of that, slaps Hampton Roads drivers with a 1 % gas tax increase on top of that (and the 1% regional sales tax we voted down by referendum).
Somehow, “Double gas tax increases” didn’t quite make it into Democratic campaign mailpieces last year.
No Joke:
By DCHSo, two guys walk into the JP…
and walk out MARRIED?
Apparently, yes. In Norfolk.
Two guys got their marriage license in Newport News and were married in a civil ceremony in Norfolk. Unlike California, where a mayor defied the law to marry same-sex couples, here officials thought Justin was Justine.

Virginia Sliding Under Trial Lawyer Ally Tim Kaine
By ChaseAn outfit that ranks states on the basis of potential litigation against private business used to have Virginia ranked 2nd in the nation, but that ranking has dropped to number 8 in just one year — and guess what? They list Governor Tim Kaine as the very reason for the slide. There are a number of interesting issues in this study, but the main one is that Kaine has been detrimental for business, as it relates to their exposure to litgataion and torts
See the study here. Virginia is on page 3.
Here’s a quote from Virginia’s entry:
Based on disappointing 2007 election results, there is a one-vote pro-plaintiffs’ lawyer majority in the state Senate. Governor Timothy Kaine is considered an activist and opponent of liability reform. He is, for example, pursuing state-level climate change policy that may subject businesses to new areas of liability.
In other words, Kaine has taken the side of ambulance chasers over those who create jobs. What do you expect from a former ACLU lawyer?
Isn’t equality a good thing?
By Brian KirwinSome don’t think so.
“A woman wants to achieve and yet she might have a husband who wants to lay on the couch and watch Oprah all day,” says Dr. David Swanson, a family psychologist. “In that situation, you can understand why that woman might spit on the check every month when she sends it out.”
It’s called “manimony” and it’s becoming more common when the wife brought home the bacon in a marriage.
when the Neely’s once-happy marriage turned into an angry divorce, this mother of two agreed to pay her ex-husband $4,000 a month.
ERA! All the way!
