McCain, Fimian at Romney PAC Site
Mitt Romney has a new PAC, Free and Strong America PAC. The front page of its website has a “Featured Candidates” spot, and John McCain is featured, as is Virginia congressional hopeful Keith Fimian (11th district). The site looks good, and it does not try to hide that it is definitely a Mitt vehicle.

Virginia’s fallen memorialized at the Capitol
Yesterday, Virginia leaders and dignitaries paid respect to Virginia citizens who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom during the Global War on Terror. 29 more names were added to the wall which now bears the names and images of 170 servicemembers who gave all for us.

Is it the people’s fault?
Vivian Paige makes me think, but as usual, I disagree with her conclusions.

Henry Jones, Jr. (R-Indiana)
Ok, so he may not be from Indiana, but over at NRO’s Media Blog, they at least seem to think Indy’s a Republican for the following reasons:
1. He’s a University of Chicago guy
2. Calls Russians “Reds”
3. Q: “Any last words, Dr. Jones?” A: “I like Ike.”
Watch out for the next film: Indiana Jones and the […]
“Start spending our resources here”
I had a chance to see Sen. Jim Webb’s endorsement of Leslie Byrne for Congress, which in all likelihood is a payback for her endorsement of him in 2006, and was struck not by its blatant defeatist mentality (which is certainly there), but this key line buried at the end of the literature in the […]
Drake’s vote justified; Senate fixes “21st Century GI Bill” problems
When it came to the recent $165 billion supplemental defense funding bill so necessary for forward operations in the Middle East, Rep. Thelma Drake (R-VA02) was in a quandary: either vote for the bill and all its amendments, which included riders for domestic spending completely unrelated to defense, war provisions which included a time-line for […]
Re: Is Conservativism Dead?
My friend and colleague Chris has said much of what needs to be said on this topic. However, I would add an important caveat, the same one that Jonah Goldberg raises here:
…keep in mind that treating conservatism and the modern GOP as interchangeable is an analytical error of the first order.

Is Mark Warner hiding something?
Why would a presidential candidate, who seemed to be a front-runner, suddenly decide he needed to come back to Virginia for his family, only to decide to enter another high-pressure election? The New Republic, hardly a bastion of conservatism, asks the same question.

Jeff Frederick to not seek re-election, if voted RPV Chair
In a very principled move by Del. Jeff Frederick, he announced yesterday that he would not seek re-election to the House of Delegates if elected as RPV Chair.

McCain’s Bitchin’ Memorial Day Party
The AP is reporting that the Republican Presidential nominee-in-waiting will be hosting a party at his ”compound” in Arizona with some familiar names on the guest list. Among the invitees are:
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal
Florida Governor Charlie Crist
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham
To quote a famous saying, “veeeeery eeenteresting.” I also […]
VPOD: Mark Ellmore, Candidate for the GOP nomination, 8th CD
Mark Elllmore proves the old axiom “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This is his second attempt at the Republican nomination for the right to face incumbent Democrat Rep. Jim Moran this November. He faces political newcomer Amit Singh in a primary battle that will be resolved on June 10.

Here’s a blogging Jane that you really should meet: Jane Novak, suburban homemaker, blogger, fighter for freedom of the press, and the bane of Yemen’s government’s existence (mostly due the aforementioned fighting for freedom of the press). I only recently discovered her, thanks to Kat, so I’ll just link to things about her. Read, and […]
Blind Justices
In a 2-1 decision, a panel of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Virginia’s Partial Birth Abortion Ban, which had been remanded back to them by the US Supreme Court in Carhart v Gonzales. See NYT story here.
Attorney General Bob McDonnell’s office suggests an appeal to the full 4th Circuit or the Supremes.

JB 4 AG
As reported by all the usual suspects today, Former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, John Brownlee, announced his candidacy for Virginia’s next Attorney General. I was fortunate enough to have been at the announcment today and have just a few thoughts on the occasion. First, however, I should make it clear that […]
Ron Paul upset in Kentucky
Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), the only remaining challenger to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for the GOP presidential nomination, still finished third in balloting in Kentucky behind former presidential candidate and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Make your own conclusions about the Paul revolution.
