Senate web site poll…just for fun
I know we all get a jazz out of looking at a candidate’s web site…so, for fun…what do you think of these:
Lindsey Graham
Mark Warner
Jim Gilmore
Bob Marshall
Opinion Polls & Market Research
Poll ends May 20.
So, how long does it take Democrats to whine?
Yesterday: Press releases from the Governor, Lt. Gov., Attorney General, and Republican Party of Virginia on Kaine’s transportation plan were issued, so I thought it would be fun to look at the timeliness of the response from the Virginia blogosphere and the DPVA:
Republicans declare Kaine’s transpo-bill DOA
From today’s Virginian-Pilot:
“I don’t see anything positive in the plan that could make it something that could be considered,” said House Majority Leader Morgan Griffith, R-Salem. “It’s all tax, tax, tax.”
VP Madness: Round 2
Unfortunately, our own Eric Cantor got knocked out in the 1st Round of this competition, but there are still plenty of interesting matchups to choose from, like Michael Steele v. Bobby Jindal and Mike Huckabee v. Condi Rice.
Voting for Round 2 ends today and Round 3 starts tomorrow, so keep going back you political junkies!
Presidential Wedding Remainders
As many Americans spent yesterday poring over official photos of the Bush-Hager nuptials for details about the dress, the cake and the ceremony, I couldn’t help but wonder what possible impact the blessed event might have on the future of Virginia politics. Of course, we here in the Commonwealth have a history with Presidential in-laws […]
Frederick campaign releases letter to Speaker Howell
As if the leadership in the House of Delegates didn’t have enough on its hands with transportation, Speaker Howell’s recent endorsement of current RPV Chairman John Hager inspired a fiery response from Mrs. Frederick.
Whatever happened to…?
Dick Wadhams, who brought all his skills to bear in the unmaking of George Allen in 2006, has been employing those same, deft techniques in my old Colorado home for a while now. And according to this he just might be on his way to sinking yet another Republican Senate candidate.
Bolling criticizes Kaine transportation plan
Full text of Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling’s statement on Gov. Kaine’s proposal:
Hampton Roads delegation split on RPV chair
There were several notable exceptions from the GOP-Hampton Roads Delegation on display from current RPV Chair John Hager’s endorsement list — among them Dels. Terrie Suit and Sal Iaquinto of Virginia Beach.
Kaine: Raise sales tax, grantor’s tax, car taxes
Leave it to a liberal to push a house tax in the middle of a housing crisis and push regional sales taxes that lost two referendums by a 2 to 1 margin. But that’s Gov. Tim Kaine’s plan. And guess what? The “house tax” won’t even go for roads.
If alcohol isn’t costly, it’s o.k. to drink and drive?
So says Judge Bonwill Shockley in a bizarre judgment in Virginia Beach where the defendant was found passed-out at the wheel.
School is worth quitting
That’s the message I got from the editorial in today’s Virginian-Pilot. I miss the days when the V-P editorial board pretended to be moderate, because lately they are diving deeply into the left side of the pool.
According to the Pilot, some students won’t care about grades if they aren’t in sports, so grade standards […]
Howell Endorses Hager
Speaker of the House William J. Howell has sent a letter endorsing John Hager for Chairman of the RPV. I like this paragraph:
National Republican organizations are taking note of RPV’s new progress. Unlike years past, the RNC’s ‘Victory 08′ operation and the McCain Campaign will work ‘hand-in-hand’ with RPV to elect our Party’s presidential, Senate, […]
Mother’s Day
A great Mother’s Day message from VB GOP Chairman Kenny Golden.
Appalachian killer dies in car crash
One of life’s ironies.
