The 1990's Goldwater was what many today like to call, a RINO Republican, due to nothing more than the fact that later in life, Barry Goldwater became more compassionate and less rigid. John McCain has transformed in a similar way. He is becoming more considerate of other viewpoints and he appears to recognize that no one person or Party has a lock on wisdom. I think that John McCain will turn out to be very attractive to crossover voters from the D side and wildly popular among the Independents. It even looks like McCain is polling well amongst us bitter White folks who are still clinging to our faith and our guns! The 1964 Goldwater was a clear minded, libertarian-Republican.
