About the author

Brian Kirwin

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.

What’s to decide? We already know what Mr. Hager will do; maintain the status quo. If you are happy with the current losing trend, the complete absence of outreach to Asian and Latino voters and anemic fund raising, then staying with Mr. Hager and the current team at RPVA will suit you.

No wonder so many Democrats have come out in support of Mr. Hager.

No wonder Jeff Frederick scares the Hell out of the Democrats.
