“Kaine said he would draw transportation funding from budget surpluses and taxes on auto insurance premiums that now support other programs. He would also rely on new public-private partnerships to build projects. He stressed that he would not raise taxes unless the transportation trust fund was secured by a state constitutional amendment, so that he could promise voters that their money would not be spent on anything else.” Washington Post
That was 2005 during a debate. Let’s remind him.
About the Author

The right wants to jeer him. The left wants to censor him. Moderates usually want both. Brian Kirwin is a political consultant and public relations strategist in Virginia Beach with a lightning-rod flair. Brian also serves on the VB Arts & Humanities Commission and frequently appears on Hampton Roads theatrical stages, if only to prove that all actors aren’t liberals. Kirwin’s columns stir up debate and hit the political scene with no punches pulled.
We did.

That was a nice video of your quote, but no one read Kaine’s campaign promises back to him.
Perhaps it would be more effective than proposing to cut lottery advertising to fund billions of dollars for roads.
Thank you for reminding everyone of this Brian. Too bad Governor Kaine does not appear to care what he promised.
Hell, you can see clearly in the video that he didn’t care what we had to say while we were there in front of him. Notice his little dismissing hand wave, offered in response to every comment.
Will speak at Poquoson Council tonight, to urge citizens to contact Gov Kaine, Del Gear and Sen J Miller, and encourage them to oppose Kaine’s taxes…especially the return to the MPO/HRP scam for regional sales taxes to fund state and port roads. Kaine has selective amnesia for many things.
