McCain’s Bitchin’ Memorial Day Party
|
|
The AP is reporting that the Republican Presidential nominee-in-waiting will be hosting a party at his ”compound” in Arizona with some familiar names on the guest list. Among the invitees are:
- Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal
- Florida Governor Charlie Crist
- Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney
- Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman
- South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham
To quote a famous saying, “veeeeery eeenteresting.” I also hear that after dinner they are planning to go around the neighborhood putting Cherry Bombs in people’s mailboxes.

Dude…that’s kickin’…
I wonder if the pinata will be in the shape of a donkey?
curiouser & curiouser
is sarah palin coming?
Holy Socialism, Batman! I bet they take a field trip to the Bohemian Club.
J.R. that is just so….good. That would be a great picture. Lieberman, especially, just beating the ever-loving cr-uh, doodoo out of that pinata……
I hope he picks Crist as VP if this is the list. We need Florida to win. Put Romney in at the SEC….
One of McCain’s virtues is that he is not a BSer. I don’t think he would say he is considering an individual for VP if he didn’t mean it.
Thus Romney’s inclusion should lead one to conclude either: 1.) The media has lied about McCain being such a jerk with a thin skin…b/c they reported that McCain “couldn’t stand” Romney during the primaries and I don’t think the caricature of McCain would be this magnanimous or 2.) Their stories about McCain’s dislike of Romney were untruthful or incorrect
Either way, it makes one question the media once again…
Or gee, maybe McCain (who was willing to flip-flop repeatedly over the past 7 years to get the nomination - after all, this is the Senator who went from having the 46th most conservative voting record in 2000 to having the 8th in 2007…) just wants to be President more than he cares about what he thinks of Gov. Romney.
As a Dem I really hope he does take Romney, it will double, or triple the flip-flopping nature of the GOP ticket…
Unfortunately I think to spread the wealth … er geography … it’ll be Uncle Mitt (not exactly a Goldwater, Reagan clone) as Veep. I’d guess the old Bolshevik Joe Lieberman will be tapped as Sec State designee?
Such venom Ragnar…
I’m lovin’ this sudden, new-found hostility from the left towards McCain. It has been a very instructive lesson for me.
If anything, Democrats are doing an excellent job of eliminating any future dream of a “purple” country. Who’d want to work with ‘em if they’re just going to be demonized later?
My Take (too long for a comment)

I’d figure that the Dems are elated that McCain is the ‘presumptive nominee’. Either way, they win.
Jim - you see venom where there is none. I like Sen. McCain, quite a lot actually. I do happen to think he would be the wrong President right now however - in 2000 though… sigh, what might have been…
What you choose to see as venom is simply an assessment of the facts. He has changed, dramatically over the past 8 years - from condemning the fundamentalists, to embracing them, from condemning torture, to embracing it, from bashing lobbiests, to having a campaign staff made up of them, from being a distinct moderate in the Senate, to becoming one of the most conservative members.
I like John McCain, but the Sen. McCain that I would have happily cast a vote for ceased to be when he fell victim to the poison of Karl Rove’s attack machine. If he just would have kept that straight talk express on the road, rather than veering hard right, I would be confronted with a difficult decision this fall.
As it is, he has made my decision easy, and is making it easier by considering the ulitimate political flip-flopper: Gov. Romney ver 2.0 (who I liked when he was Romney 1.0 governor of Mass) as his running mate.
Oooh! I want an attack machine!
