Ironic Headline
By Brian Kirwin | Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 | Catch-AllQuite the chuckle at the Virginian-Pilot’s editorial headline “Kaine makes it hard to say no on roads”.
Their online poll the same day on Kaine’s plan: Yes 29% No 67%

There are so many reasons to say “No!” to the Govenor’s ploy for tax hikes. But let’s just focus on two of them.
1. Candidate Kaine promised that he would not support raising taxes for transportation unless there was a Constitutional amendment to protect the Transportation Trust Fund. Now Governor Kaine seems to ignore his promise and puts a tax and fee increases plan on the table without a Constitutional amendment to protect the Transportation Trust Fund. Conclusion? You can’t trust Tim Kaine to keep his word.
2. Candidate Kaine promised to comply with the Constitution when he took his oath of office and he pledged that he would not support a transportation plan that created regional transportation authorities. Governor Kaine seems to ignore his promise and instead substituted his version of HB 3202 which created unconstitutional regional taxing authorities. Now Governor Kaine puts a new plan on the table that continues to advocate regional taxing, sans the authority. Conclusion? You can’t trust Tim Kaine to keep his word. He signed into law a bill that violated the Constitution. He signed into law a bill that violated his pledge and created regional transportation authorities.
