They are floating around 20% or so… less in some polls. Why might that be?
Try this piece of nonsense: a farm bill with a program in it that sounds kinda high-minded until you study it and find out that it benefits only one landowner. Here are the details on “Qualified Forestry Bonds” program.
Congressman Eric Cantor is quoted in the article:
Cantor called the forestry bond program “a Bridge to Nowhere in the Farm Bill,” referring to the infamous Alaska bridge that had been inserted into the 2005 transportation bill. “If it’s a legitimate program to preserve lands adjacent to federal forests, fine,” says Cantor. “But to engage in backroom deals designed to benefit one landowner? That’s exactly why people distrust Congress and feel that Washington is broken.”
He Internet team has blogged about it as well. There are a lot of people in Congress who still haven’t figured out that the Internet is changing things - those who have the inclination can now look at what’s actually in these bills. And sometimes it ain’t pretty. Cantor is right - and from his minority party position he is doing his best to try to apply a clue-bat to his fellow congressmen.
