Republicans losing in everything

A couple days ago I wrote about how RPV’s new plan to tie party growth to dollars was a good one, provided there was a message to go along with it. That sentiment had no real basis in any poll or inside information, just an intuition.

Now my suspicions have been confirmed by pollster Frank Luntz in today’s column by Fred Barnes in the Weekly Standard:

“It used to be that Republicans won [in polls] on economic and values and foreign policy issues,” [Luntz] says. “Democrats won on quality of life. Now Democrats are winning on everything.”

Yikes.

Here’s a question — is it the message or the messengers?

Update: Gingrich has some thoughts on the subject –

Or is it the natural ebb and flow or politics. Remember how quickly the Republicans went from “out of touch and clueless about even a supermarket scanner” in 1992 to effective managers of government reform in 1994.

No, it’s not the natural flow and ebb. We have elected officials who have not honored their word. Our officials ran on the Republican platform and totally abandoned it when they were in office, and now people are angry about it. If our Republican officials had stuck to the Republican principles, we would no doubt still be winning. Instead, the word “conservative” has turned into a joke.

    I strongly concur with Stephen.
all one has to do is look back to the only times in recent memory that we have had elective success.
    Reagan and Gingrich.
it is very clear that the Republican Party only defeats Democrats when we give the American people a legitimate reason to trust us to be different.
when the majority give the dems higher marks on even National Security, you know we have sold the store.
    ( open borders).
    Face it, Establishment!!
you cannot win without we conservatives.
You never have. You better remember Reagan before his political legacy becomes nothing more than a memory, due to your lack of leadership on a host of issues.
If you won’t do it, get out of the way and let those of us who love our values and our party more than our own political gain take care of business.
