Up in the eighth district GOP contest between Mark Ellmore and Amit Singh, Ellmore announced today that he’s received several endorsements from Republican leaders in the district.

From an Ellmore release:

“I am humbled and honored to receive support from the proven leaders of Northern Virginia”, said Mark Ellmore. New endorsements listed below add on to the list of other local leaders supporting Ellmore in the Republican Primary such as former State-Senator Jay O’Brien and the current chair of the Fairfax County Republican Committee, Jim Hyland.

New Endorsements
Chris Marston, Chair of Alexandria City Republican Committee
Scott Tate, Former 8th Congressional District Candidate 2002
Pat Troy, Former Alexandria City Council Candidate
Bernie Schulz, Former Alexandria City Council Candidate
Wayne Kubicki, Arlington County GOP Activist
George Croft, Former Republican State Central Member
Spike Williams, 2007 Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Candidate

Update: In related news, the Republican Liberty Caucus endorsed Singh today.

“We believe that Amit Singh is the best candidate in the race, and he deserves the Republican nomination to face off against the incumbent in November,” said Cliff Dunn, treasurer of the RLC-Virginia. “We encourage other Republican groups to offer their support to Mr. Singh’s campaign.”

The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) is a grassroots, nationwide organization affiliated with the Republican Party (GOP). The goal of the RLC is to elect pro-liberty individuals to office. The RLC was founded in 1990, and now has members in every state. The Republican Liberty Caucus supports individual rights, limited government and free enterprise.

“Amit Singh demonstrates a clear commitment to core Republican principles,” said Dunn. “As a native-born Virginian, he understands the needs of the Commonwealth and of his constituents in Arlington County, Alexandria, Fairfax County, and Falls Church. He is without a doubt the best choice for 8th District voters in this year’s election.”

It’s unforunate for his campaign that Mr Ellmore actually believes this is helping his campaign. All this does is show he is yet another establishment candidate willing to sell out his philosophy for party endorsements. I hope he realizes soon what a mistake he is making.

Thanks for your continued coverage of the 8th District race…

Another reason why Ellmore is the ONLY Republican running.

The RLC is trying to remove Frank Wolf…why on earth would Singh want his name to be attached to that?

Ellmore is endorsed by 12 GOP Leaders that live in the 8th Congressional District while Singh has none. It doesn’t look like he has much local support.

I’m a Republican in the 8th district and I have never heard of the 12 GOP leaders listed above. There is clearly a disconnect b/w actual voters and the GOP “leaders”. None of their endorsements would really affect my decision. I’m voting on issues and I’m voting for Amit Singh.

    Bill:

Scott Tate was the 8th district congressional candidate in 2002. Either you recently moved into the distinct, or you’ve been paying no attention to local politics.
