Senate Dems setting new standards for ethics

Boy, the new VA Senate majority is setting new standards for ethics. Low ones.

Sen. Yvonne Miller is having fun deadlocking judicial appointments in cities where she doesn’t live, blocking the unanimous choice of the elected officials of both parties who actually live there. Sen. Creigh Deeds handed a judgeship to a $2500 donor.

Now, Sen. Louise Lucas is wrapped up in the money tree in Portsmouth. Sen. Lucas has a $65 million hotel project pending before Portsmouth City Council. Councilman Charles Whitehurst “invested” $2,500 in the project. Sen. Lucas then gave Whitehurst a $10,000 campaign contribution, the largest single contribution to a council candidate in Hampton Roads.

“She said she wanted to make sure that I won,” was Whitehurst’s explanation.

No….really?

And then she slaps him in the face with this statement:

“Two thousand dollars? How much of an investment is that?” she said about Whitehurst’s contribution.

Nice touch Senator Lucas. I would have thought you had more class than that.

I’m sure her Portsmouth constituents think $2,000 is just throwaway money, too.

$2K? That’s just “walkin’ around money.”

I won’t say who said that…but I know there are several readers who know who it is.
