From Rep. Drake’s office:

Drake to Hold Art Competition for High School Students

Virginia Beach, VA – U.S. Representative Thelma Drake (R-Va.) announced that she is holding an art competition for high school students. Entry is limited to students in grades 9-12. Entries may be brought to the Congresswoman’s Virginia Beach office during business hours. All entries must be submitted with the attached release form by the close of business on April 30th. The winner will have their piece hung for one year in the tunnel between the Capitol and Cannon House Office Building, where Members of Congress walk on their way to vote.

For more information, please contact the Virginia Beach office at (757) 497-6859.

Now, I’m either really jaded or it’s completely a coincidence, but I haven’t heard this much about art in, well, ever. Has art found a resurgence…or is Rep. Drake poking a little fun at the Virginian-Pilot?

Interesting that the Pilot has decided to embrace censorship…

I hope that this is Rep Drake’s way of standing up for that student and all art.
