VPOD: Del. Bob Marshall, Candidate for U.S. Senate
Del. Bob Marshall joins me tonight on this evening’s Virginia Politics On-Demand. Del. Marshall is criss-crossing the state trying to convince Republicans before the convention on May 31 why he would be a better choice to run against Mark Warner this November over Jim Gilmore.
Del. Marshall discusses his views on Mark Warner, Jim Gilmore, the Supreme Court, National Security, Social Issues, and much more in tonight’s interview.
Quote of the podcast:
“I’m here to serve my constituents, not some clique in Richmond….I am proud to say I am not the establishment Republican.”

Marshall “Reagan won Virginia twice. He won the Presidency twice…I even went to Jim and I said look, let me tell you what. I will do for you what I did for Reagan back in 1980.”
He then goes on to take credit for turning Reagan’s loss in the Iowa caucuses into a nomination win, because he wrote a letter.
uh…….yeah.
Those who read know that Marshall is always right on the money. His instincts are unsurpassed. His vote always turn out to be right, i.e. his vote against abusive driver fees (when everyone else voted for it and it later had to be repealed because of citizen outrage). He was right about how citizens felt about the Warner sales tax increase in 1999. Citizens voted overwhelmingly against it. Again Warner was defeated. Marshall was right about allowing non-elected bodies to tax citizens. Everyone else voted for it; he voted against it and the Va. Supreme Court sided with Marshall. He is right about the definition of marriage: His Marshall Newman Marriage Amendment referendum was overwhelmingly approved by Democrats and Republicans throughout Virginia. Even on abortion, many Democrats are siding with the majority of Republicans admitting that abortion is a horrible tragedy. Youth today want to outlaw it. Marshall is always on the leading edge. He is an astute judge of what citizens want. Somehow the rest of the gang keep missing the target.
