McCain getting support from Democrats

The RNC was kind enough to point out today that MSNBC’s “First Read” is reporting from the latest NBC/WSJ poll that:

For the second poll in a row, more than 20% of Clinton and Obama supporters say they would support McCain when he’s matched up against the other Democrat.”

It’s a long time until November, and I am sure there is plenty of angst amongst Democrats right now, but this can’t be good news for them.

Doug at “Below the Beltway” has more good info on this poll.

It is my opinion that most Obama supporters are being disingenuous when they claim they would vote for McCain over Clinton. While I could accept that a Clinton supporter might prefer McCain over Obama, I see no reason a rational Obama supporter would support McCain over Clinton unless it was a case of sore loser.

I would accept the promise of an Obama voter that he/she would just stay home and not vote if their candidate was not nominated as being a valid threat. But vote for McCain? Heh heh, I thought the difference between Obama and Clinton was Obama offered change. So they are then going to vote for McCain? Empty threat.
