Obama to Co-Sponsor Earmark Moratorium?

That’s what Andrew Roth is hearing:

I’m being told by my sources on Capitol Hill that Barack Obama has just signed up as a co-sponsor to Jim DeMint’s one-year earmark moratorium amendment. This is great news, not necessarily because of Obama, but because it will force Clinton to sign up as well. And with her, I suspect that the two Democrats will bring several more of their colleagues with them. And that will force several Republican senators to vote for it as well. If this thing passes, and it’s becoming more and more likely, then the pressure will be overwhelming in the House to do the same.

Presidential politics aren’t easy to set aside on this one, but I agree with Andrew to some extent that if this pans out, then Hillary will follow (though not necessarily anyone else). Of course, McCain has been on the right side of this matter for a long time…angering many of his Republican colleagues. If Obama gets behind it, McCain might lose an issue…but we all stand to gain.

This, of course, begs the question of where have these people been all along…while adding and spending earmarks! The real question for ALL canidates should be “if you are so good at working with both sides of the aisle, why haven’t you accomplished any of the things you now promise?”
