Bring a friend to an abortion clinic…get a discount!

Saw this in the Virginian-Pilot’s Beacon this weekend.
Planned Parenthood of Southeast Virginia will offer a 10% discount to any current or new client who introduces a friend to Planned Parenthood this month…
Never thought I’d see the day when abortions are treated like “double coupon” day at the grocery store.

The free market works.
Nice bumper-sticker slogan.
PP does more than abortions. They also provide birth control, STD testing, female medical care, etc.
This is absolutely disgusting. The fact that PP is giving a discount for destroying human life makes me sick.
Cue up the AC/DC:
“Dirty deeds done dirt cheap”
But they DO abortions. I mean I am sure Nazis did other things than kill Jews but they DID kill them.
Squeaky, are you comparing abortionists to Nazis?
Yes… But Nazis killed less people, so maybe it is unfair to Nazis
Are you kidding? WHy don’t you print the whole ad? It says:
March is the month to introduce a friend to Planned Parenthood!
Throughout the month of March, Planned Parenthood is offering a 10% discount to all current and new clients who introduce a friend to our health centers! All you have to do is call and make an appointment for you and your friend–the two appointments do not have to be for the same day or time–and you will BOTH receive 10% off your visit! The discount applies to:
-Annual Exam, with or w/out a Pap test (screens for cervical cancer)
-Problem Visit
-H.O.P.E. Visit (birth control consultation w/out a full exam)
-STD testing
-HIV testing
But that wouldn’t have garnered as much attention in the title eh? Planned Parenthood provides quality healthcare and services and all you can do is pretend to be outraged at an ad that has nothing to do with abortion. Geez. Get a clue.
If you think Planned Parenthood and it’s founder, Margaret Sanger, are about “quality healthcare”, get a clue:

So, what do you think a “problem visit” might lead to?
Direct from the Planned Parenthood website: Planned Parenthood works in the states, at the federal level, and around the world to protect every woman’s right to make her own decisions about childbearing. If politicians really want to reduce the number of abortions, they should adopt commonsense solutions, such as increased access to affordable contraception and comprehensive, medically accurate sex education.

I think that’s the “problem” they are also giving discounts on!
FYI ctown, a problem visit refers to a urinary tract infection, yeast infection or other vaginal problem–it has nothing to do with pregnancy. Many women who already have a doctor visit Planned Parenthood for one of these issues because they can get in more quickly due to their flexible hours.
oops, I meant FYI J.R.
JR - a standard problem visit is for something like itching, rash, discharge, pain, found lump in breast, or any other random medical question.
A problem visit would lead to a safe, confidential medical examination.
You think that is somehow wrong?
Oh, wait, I get it…a problem visit leads to an abortion obviously b/c that is all PP does, right? In Virginia, 7% of PPAV services are abortions the rest is for the mundane things that you don’t want to talk about like affordable contraception, PAP smears, pelvic and mamogram exams, HPV vaccines, STD screenings, colonoscopys, etc.
I think this thread has definitely reached its intellectual capacity…or rather, yours.
One of the good thing about blogs is to provide information about misconceptions. I appreciate your bringing new information to the site. It’s health and productive.
As I have never needed to consult with planned parenthood on any matter, thank goodness, I asked a serious question of “So, what do you think a problem visit might lead to?”
You answer the question, but then proceed to insult? What’s the point?
I had no idea what a problem visit might lead to. You educated us. Great. Thanks. I feel like I have more knowledge now.
But you show your true colors with your last comment. You don’t want to share information. You don’t want to discuss this rationally. You already are defensive when there was nothing to be defensive about.
Why are you so defensive? Why have you resorted to name calling and insults? Particularly to the one guy on this entire thread who just asked one simple question?
JR - Sorry. Your question seemed leading and with the other responses on this post (which is inflammatory in general) I jumped to the conclusion that you had already had your own conclusion and were trying to make a point. So if your question was asked in earnest, I’m truly sorry for my response.
I’m glad that you feel like you know a little more about PP’s preventative and educational health services and hope you’ll keep them in mind whenever you read a headline like the one at the top of this post.
