Democrats “High-Five” all-around on repealing drunk-driving fees

Well, if you have been caught driving drunk for the fourth, fifth, twentieth time…don’t worry…the Virginia Senate Democrats are all excited that they repealed any “abusive driver fees” to punish you.

“We came into this session with clear goals and priorities which included repealing the abusive driver fees. These fees originally passed because legislators where looking for a quick fix on transportation,” said Sen. Roscoe Reynolds (D-Henry). “They wanted to try and hide fees and assess them on people who wouldn’t notice. This was a bad piece of legislation and I’m glad we were able to correct this problem and repeal the abusive driver fees.”

With all do respect, Sen. Reynolds…I’m sure some legislators wanted the inebriated killers or speed-demon miscreants who terrorize our roadways to notice.

But just repealing the bill wasn’t good enough. Now, pass the Jack Daniels, because now you can afford more booze! For those who were assessed the fees, your fine is coming back!

“This is a clean repeal and sets up a streamlined process to refund these fees,” said Sen. Chap Petersen (D-Fairfax).

Nice. Glad to see Democrats are on-board for deterrence.

Oh, that’s right. The person sloshing down a six-pack because they’re poor is actually the victim because they can’t “afford” to pay these fines.

Tell that to the dead nine-year-old.
