Warner as VP?

Write-side has a good write-up on the possibility of Mark Warner as Obama’s running mate. This has some validity as a rumor: while on the treadmill, I saw this myth also perpetuated on Fox News by a Democratic strategist (yes, my gym’s news channel is Fox — catering to its membership!)
What does Warner want to do? Be our senator or be this nation’s vice president? Is becoming U.S. senator his “back-up” plan? Is Beyer a viable alternative?

If Jim Webb can win a senate seat, anyone can.
I hope Warner doesn’t get the offer. Obama needs somebody with an international background and experiance to be his VP running mate.
It would be a dumb move for either Hillary or Obama to pick Mark Warner with Jim Webb around. Dems should keep Marky Mark in the Senate race and tap Webb for VP, on the hopes that Warner wins the seat, and if Webb shoots up to VP, Kaine can tap someone to fill the Senate term.
Nah, Mark Warner isn’t going to be the vice presidential candidate. Not if Obama is the nominee. My guess is that Obama will pick somebody with stronger foreign policy, national security and military credentials.
Mark Warner brings nothing to the table in those areas. If Obama picks anybody from Virginia, it would more likely be Jim Webb.
But I’m not sure that simply being from Virginia is all that important. There are other swing states that are probably just as or more important in the election.
Agreed, i see Webb as more likely than Warner, though i still don’t see Webb as very likely. He (Webb) seems to push all the right buttons and fit what most people have said obama “needs”, and it looks like a good paper match-up - but something just doesn’t sit right with me when i ponder an Obama/Webb ticket (and i’m a supporter of both).
