Gilmore asks a good question

In a press release yesterday, Jim Gilmore, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, asks his would-be opponent, Democrat Mark Warner, if he sides with Gov. Tim Kaine or Atty. Gen. Bob McDonnell when it comes to getting an agreement between Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and Virginia State Police. The agreement, long advocated by McDonnell, would allow state police to enforce federal immigration laws when they also happen to be enforcing Virginia law on violent crime.

“Why should illegal aliens who commit crimes like this in our communities get the opportunity to victimize Virginians again and again?” Gilmore asked. “It’s time for Mark Warner to stand up and be counted on this issue, which is costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars and threatening our citizens and communities.”

“These cooperative efforts to work in conjunction with federal authorities and remove criminal illegal aliens from the Commonwealth should be one of the many steps that can be taken at the state and federal levels to decrease illegal immigration and enforce immigration laws already in the books,” Gilmore, a former prosecutor and former Attorney General, declared.

Will Mark Warner answer the question?

My questions are: “What was Gilmore’s position and act on this issue when he was the Gov for four years? And is there evidence to show ICE was involved during the Gilmore years?”
