Early this morning, the Virginian Federalist will have a new contributor on their already popular blog: Attorney General Bob McDonnell!
McDonnell has penned a few words exclusively for posting on TVF discussing his campaign promises made in 2005.
“Accountability matters.” wrote McDonnell in a statement. “Rhetoric must lead to results or citizens lose confidence. . . . With this in mind I have recently gone back through the platform we ran on in our 2005 campaign. I want to be accountable for how we have done once in office.”
In an advance look to Bearing Drift, Attorney General McDonnell discusses the following topics:
- Protecting Children from Sexual Predators
- Taking Dangerous Drug Dealers off our Streets
- Defending Virginians against 21st Century Crimes, like Identity Theft
- Combating Gang Violence
- Strengthening Virginians’ Property Rights
- Curbing Frivolous Prisoner Lawsuits, and
- Protecting Virginians from Terrorist Threats
It is yet another first for the AG. He was the first state-wide elected official to live-blog, podcast, and now write an op-ed exclusively for a blog.
The bottom-line is that this medium offers all elected officials the opportunity to connect with the constituency like never before; kudos to the AG for recognizing this and leading in this environment. Also, congratulations to the Virginian Federalist on such a notable milestone.
